Chrysalid Homo - Glitter
“I’m your friend!” insists the narrator of Glitter, the latest single from time-travelling Salford, 3 piece, Chrysalid Homo. The track spans several jarring minutes of detuned, micro-tonal synth lines, a relentless drum track and lyrics that aim to cut through the misinformation driven age of anti-intellectualism. The lyrics, sitting precariously atop a backing track of destructive electro-punk, tell the story of a caricatured political figure who insists that he, most definitely, acts in your best interests.
“Over the last decade, the media has attempted to portray politicians and members of the capitalist class as more human than they are. We have become far too comfortable being on first-name terms with figures like Boris Johnson, Elon Musk, Sir Kier Starmer.” States Chrysalid Homo frontman, L.S. Duke. “They aren’t our friends; they don’t care whether their capricious whims mean we live or die. And yet their lies, barefaced and blatant, are beamed into our homes, against our better judgement.”
