From the ashes of a nuclear wasteland comes a new leader of a new age, the
New Order: Novus Ordo.
The latest album from Salfordian, Sci-Fi, Post-Punk quartet, Chrysalid Homo, is
yet another classic in this band’s fast-growing catalogue.
The album opens with driving synths and crooning vocals of Synthesist, Eden
Duke in the track The Tomorrow Man. The next track, swings back up the vocal
register, lead by front man Lawrence, Beat a Cop, a call to arms for the alienated
against the long and violent arm of the capitalist state.
Whether it’s their bittersweet ode Battle of Mansfield, or the foot stomping
Don’t Care, these Salfordian Sirens ensure that each track has a message that
begs to be decoded and discussed. Sometimes the message is clear: I Feel Shit,
sings of the struggles that many inhabitants of the modern world experience.
But often the message requires listeners to think critically about the world in
which we live and the ways and means of changing that world. Some tracks take
notesfrom literary figuressuch as Philip K. Dick; The Randall Node: a cautionary
from the not-so-distant future about trusting billionaires with direct access to
our brains. How this merry band of Mad-Max musicians augurate these ideas
remain a mystery, but fear not, they are here to share their secrets with all who
would listen.
